Gamer to Game-Creator: Getting Into the Gaming Industry

18-Feb-2018

The importance of growing and nurturing a strong community of players is one of the key pillars of Slitherine’s strategy. Over time, both Slitherine and Matrix Games, the hard-core wargaming branch of the company, have managed to involve gamers in the development process both before the game is released and after, through its entire life circle through testers and modders. These contributors often end up being part of the development team or starting their own small independent development activity. Some of the most successful games and DLCs are created by these fans. This is a very effective way to start a career in the gaming industry and it shows how passion and dedication can sometimes be rewarding beyond the mere enjoyment of a game. It can become a hobby, job or a partnership.

Alberto Casulini – A great example of how a passion can become a job, Alberto started as a Junior Product Manager in Slitherine on the back of his passion for strategy games. He is now one of the most respected Marketing Managers of the company and continues to bring his love for games to his job every day.

Paolo Paglianti – Videogames journalist and wargamer, Paolo is Slitherine’s Media Relations Manager. He has been dealing with video games since the dawn of the industry. A gamer at heart, he has a natural inclination to switch from tabletop miniatures to digital entertainment.
